Our desk operation is entirely run by local young volunteers who have the best understanding of youth culture in the city. They contribute to guiding tourists to explore the city beyond the usual tourist path.

GIFTSHOP aims to make tourists part of the local community, conversations, make them and co-creators of the city of Ghent. We seek to shift tourists’ perception from being mere stakeholders and passants to becoming shareholders and contributors. We actively engage in dialogue about the challenges that tourism brings. We strive for a real conversation between residents (who are tourists elsewhere) and tourists (who are residents elsewhere).
